On November 1, 2026, the closing day of the exhibition "Vexation of Spirit. The Duerckheim Collection x Serralves," artist Jake Chapman will lead a conversation and guided tour. He will discuss the works he developed in collaboration with his brother, Dinos Chapman, which are part of the exhibition.
The conversation will focus on pieces such as "The End of Fun," "What the Hell," "Unholly McTrinity," "The Milk of Human Weakness," and "One Day You Will No Longer Be Loved." These works explore themes of the grotesque, violence, dark humor, and the subversion of religious, political, and popular culture symbols. The Chapman brothers use miniature horror scenes and reinvented portraits to question contemporary society's values and contradictions, exposing the normalization of violence, power dynamics, and human fragility.
This conversation-visit offers an opportunity for the public to engage with Jake Chapman and explore the ethical, aesthetic, and political questions within his artistic practice. It prompts reflection on art's role in addressing violence, absurdity, and historical repetition. Access is free upon ticket collection at the Museu de Serralves, starting at 11:00.
