The "Contos Cruzados" reading club, led by Eva Carvalho and Maria João Sampaio, will discuss Albert Camus's short story "O Hóspede." This story, from Camus's collection "O Exílio e o Reino," explores moral dilemmas and individual isolation during the Algerian War.
The session also draws parallels with Alberto Méndez's "A Língua dos Mortos," which addresses similar themes in the context of the Spanish Civil War. Both narratives feature protagonists forced to make ethical decisions in difficult circumstances.
The event takes place on November 5, 2026, at 18:30, at the Biblioteca Municipal Almeida Garrett. Admission is free.
