Ivan Cheng's “The Fountain” is a solo performance where he reformulates a piece originally presented by two dancers. The performance features a virtuosic monologue on themes of property, memory, and the act of releasing, with Cheng extensively using his voice and body, occasionally breaking into song, and inviting audience participation. The work continues Cheng's exploration of reproducing performance, memory, or persona, prompting reflection on what we choose to preserve.
This version of “The Fountain” includes collaboration with Arvo Leo for camera work and features clothing from the Good & Bad brand. The performance is part of a series of works in dialogue with “Casemates,” commissioned by Mudam, Luxembourg, and TEA, Tenerife, within the PIT – Perform, Inform, Transform program.
The event takes place at the Museu on November 7, 2026, with performances at 14:30 and 19:50. Tickets are available exclusively at the Museum Reception ticket office, priced at €15 for residents and €19 for non-residents during the period of November 2-8. Friends of Serralves receive free entry, and a 25% discount is offered for purchasing tickets for both days, cumulative with usual discounts for students and seniors.
