Miguel Gomes

The Casa do Cinema Manoel de Oliveira is hosting the first exhibition dedicated to the work of acclaimed Portuguese director Miguel Gomes. The exhibition, curated by António Preto and coordinated by Carla Almeida, focuses on Gomes's working methods, revealing his process of interweaving writing, filming, and editing.

Visitors can explore all of Miguel Gomes’ short films and excerpts from his feature films. The exhibition also includes materials from the preparation and shooting of his films, such as scripts, notebooks, drawings, photographs, rehearsal recordings, and rushes. Some works are presented across simultaneous projections or re-edited specifically for the exhibition.

The exhibition runs from October 31, 2026, to May 30, 2027, at the Manoel de Oliveira House of Cinema. It allows audiences to follow the successive stages of production of Gomes's films, from his debut in 1999 to his ongoing projects, and discover sequences omitted from the final versions.
