The exhibition "Lee Ufan: Fragments of Infinity" is the artist's first major presentation in Portugal, held at Casa e Parque de Serralves. Lee Ufan, born in 1936, is a South Korean artist known for redefining material, space, and perception in post-war art. He was a central figure and theoretician of the Japanese Mono-ha avant-garde movement and connected to the Korean Dansaekhwa monochrome painting movement.
The exhibition includes three outdoor sculptures in the park, five paintings (one site-specific), and three sculptures inside the house. These works explore the dialogue between elements, such as natural stones and industrial materials like steel or glass, and the relationship between brushstroke and ground. The presentation highlights Lee's lifelong interest in the inside/outside relationship and how forms communicate with their environment.
The Serralves Foundation – Museum of Contemporary Art, Porto, organized the exhibition. Philippe Vergne curated it, with coordination by Giovana Gabriel. SCAI The Bathhouse provided major support for the exhibition.
