Desobedoc, an exhibition of insubordinate cinema, is held at Sala Estúdio Perpétuo. This venue, originally Cinema Estúdio, opened in 1966 and recently reopened, contributing to Porto's cultural scene. The event celebrates the city's recovery of another cinema space.
This edition highlights Desobedoc's international and European focus, featuring collaborations with foundations, organizations, filmmakers, and activists from across Europe. The program addresses topics like Palestine, the 90th anniversary of the Popular Front of 1936 in France, and the Spanish Civil War, which began in the same year. It also marks seven decades since the death of Brecht, a significant figure in theatre, poetry, and dialectical aesthetics.
Further films explore dictatorship and memory preservation in Chile, particularly in the year of director Patrício Guzmán's death. There are also features on struggles against the far-right, domestic work rights, and housing issues in Porto and Spain, examining how similar challenges affect both regions and the impact of the Lei Cristas.
