The exhibition "Brasil Moderno: Uma Nova Perspectiva" brings together significant names in 20th-century Brazilian art. Artists featured include Tarsila do Amaral, Di Cavalcanti, Cândido Portinari, Alberto da Veiga Guignard, Alfredo Volpi, Roberto Burle Marx, Vicente do Rêgo Monteiro, José Pancetti, Manabu Mabe, and Rubens Gerchman.
Inspired by the ideals of the 1922 Modern Art Week, the show offers a panorama of how Brazilian visual identity was constructed. It reveals how different generations of artists transformed landscapes, characters, popular traditions, and urban experiences into a modern, original, and deeply Brazilian language.
By connecting visual arts and literature, the exhibition invites the public to revisit a fertile period of national culture and understand Modernism's ongoing influence on how Brazil is imagined and represented. The exhibition runs from July 29 to November 1, 2026, at Instituto Pernambuco-Porto, with visits available Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 17:00. Admission is free.
